Office of Quality Improvement


Managed Health Care Administration (MHCA) is committed to the provision of high quality behavioral health services. MHCA is fully accredited as a Health Network by URAC, an independent accrediting organization that promotes quality healthcare.

The department is responsible for investigation and resolution of patient and provider concerns/complaints. A toll free number is available to patients and providers who wish to contact the Office of Quality Improvement: 1-800-609-9665. The Office of Quality Improvement is also responsible for all credentialing activities of the network. All clinicians undergo a thorough credentialing process before entering the provider network and are re-credentialed every three years.

Quality Improvement site reviews are conducted of selected provider sites at a minimum annually, to ensure compliance with network standards. MHCA site reviews are permitted by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). All providers are contractually required to cooperate with such reviews.

The staff of the MHCA Office of Quality Improvement ensures that any protected health information that is shared during the course of site reviews is maintained and treated in a manner consistent with all federal laws governing confidentiality.

The Chief Quality Officer is available to all providers to answer their questions related to network participation. Providers can utilize our Quality Improvement toll free number during normal business hours for this purpose or may contact the Chief Quality Officer directly at (205) 968-8442.
